I done did...

Persistence is fruitful (quote stolen)

The formative years of my work experience took place in what used to be called the streetwear scene, where I existed as a graphic designer, buyer, visual merchandiser and shop manager for over a decade. Taught to fold T-shirts and and scoff at wannabes by the best in the game. Being in that space, especially pre-internet (imagine that) opened up all types of avenues and experience. I’ve gotten to design footwear, apparel, 12” record labels, accessories and flyers. Launched a bar and a few retail spaces. DJ’d weekly parties and threw gallery events for killer artists. Designed identities and repped obscure clothing companies. Amassed over 350 (most worn) pairs of sneakers and enough hats for everyone in my family tree to rock a fresh lid weekly. Absorbed lessons from sub-cultural pioneers and adjusted to the new vangaurd while keeping my point of view grounded in experience and instinct. Paid dues, kept it moving.

Was offered a corporate gig, took a deep breath and took it. After a few years found myself running a team and being responsible for a $90M graphics business. Learned a ton, handled my business for a few more years and when a friend hit me with an opportunity at a brand I admired, I put my work together and locked it down. Learned cut & sew and textile design, how to put together seasonal art direction for a brand and how to take my instincts and share them effectively with a large audience. Put in work, earned respect and gained partners and when the landscape shifted I accepted a role as Creative Director for a consumer space I felt in my heart. I had my first creative mentor who “got me” on a deep level and pushed me to evolve and address my weaknesses. Did the best work I’d ever done there and kept on learning and breaking through for myself and the brand. As its known to do, the landscape shifted again and when it settled, I surveyed, measured my time, felt it out, and decided it was time to look for a new route.

So here we are...let’s work!
